Mobile phone production in India reached 10 million level
Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that mobile phone production in India reached level of 10 million and major companies are setting up manufacturing centers in the country.
He said, "I am happy to announce that during December, investment of Rs 1.14 lakh crore was made in electronic manufacturing in India. About 15 new mobile plants are being set up. "Prasad said at the Global Business Summit," Earlier, there were 6.8 million mobile phones manufactured in 2014 and now 10 million units are being manufactured. "
He said that smartphones sales in India also reached the level of 10 crores by the end of December 2015.
Prasad said, "Apart from top Indian companies, all major companies including Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Nidek, Samsung, Bosch, Zeil, Flictronics, Continental, are doing business in India."
Indian cellular association founder and president Pankaj Mohindro said that according to value, the mobile phone production in the country increased by 95 percent during the current financial year.
He said, "The government has made serious efforts to increase mobile phone production in the country. With new investments 30,000 new jobs have been created in the country and state governments have expressed interest in attracting these investments.
Prasad said that the spread of Internet in the country is growing rapidly and by combining the spread through mobile phones, it has increased 10 million more in the year to 40 crore.
He said, "With the blessings of God, I believe that with this growth rate, we will cross the 50-crore mark."
